Dive into the dynamic world of information research with Purdue’s Information Studies Research Accelerator—a learning community open to first-year students from all majors. SPIRaL (Students Partners for Information Research and Literacy)

Join Purdue’s SPIRaL program and become a full research partner exploring how information literacy can address today’s biggest information challenges—from misinformation to the impact of social media on society. As an undergraduate SPIRaL scholar, you’ll collaborate with faculty mentors to design and conduct original research, develop valuable skills, and contribute to work with real-world impact. This year, scholars are studying the information challenges faced by student journalists, shaping new approaches to information literacy in journalism. SPIRaL offers hands-on research experience, academic credit, and a vibrant community of curious, engaged students dedicated to making a difference.

Study Locally, Explore Globally

Explore how information shapes our world on this immersive summer study abroad program in London. From ancient sites like Stonehenge to iconic institutions such as Oxford University and the British Museum, you’ll study the impact of information systems on culture, society, and power structures throughout history. This interdisciplinary course offers hands-on learning through visits to historical landmarks and museums, plus three enriching day trips to Salisbury, Oxford, and Bath. Earn three credits toward the Information Studies Minor while gaining a deeper understanding of how information influences beliefs and decision-making across time and place.

Open to all Purdue students with a 2.5+ GPA; preference given to those in the Information Studies Minor.

Dates: May 18–June 5, 2026

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until February 1, 2026, or when the program reaches its maximum capacity.
